Sticky bits

November 12, 2020

I thought I had it. I didn’t. The manipulator you saw in the last video, forget it. Complicated, way beyond possible for pea-sized brains (like mine). It had its beauty. You could attach whatever to whateverelse in whatever configuration. But who wants freedom anyways? I want to hide behind masks. Freedom and masks are not related. Who am I talking to?

The decision was made, a new idea was born. Do you know the construction foam cans? I now have those. Even better: a two-component adhesive with foamy bits. Too much talking already, go watch the video. Moving pictures were why you came here in the first place anyways:

The position of the two foam lines decide at which point to attach the two objects. The shapes of the two foam lines are matched (badly) to have a direction. That’s how it works. After foam-spraying the two parts, you can then fiddle around with their orientation. The user interface on the gun tells you how much they overlap. If they don’t, you’re out of luck and you should start over. Spray better! Learn something at least once in your life!

Anyhow, you can also try that out. Find version 0.0.2 (Sticky Joe) in the download section. Do anything wrong, and it’ll blow up in your face. I didn’t put any safeguards there.
